Photography has always been a part of my life. Growing up my father worked for Colortrend in Rugeley, a photograph developing company where he would set up the printers, which were then mainly Durst or Gretag. Each roll was checked by sight to ensure the colours and processing were correct.
He taught me to have a keen interest in photography. The earliest camera I can remember using was a Kodak box camera that took the old 620 film. I can remember as clear as day looking down into the top of the camera to take the picture of my cat Mindy who was climbing up a tree.
This picture of me (left) was taken by my dad who on a trip to the zoo surprised me with my first very own camera.
I was over the moon with my Kodak Instamatic 126.
Over the years I have had many compact cameras. I always loved the 110 film cartridge and never really got to grips with putting the fiddly 35mm film in the camera.
About 7 years ago I was made redundant and decided to treat myself to a digital SLR after much research and borrowing of my friend’s cameras I purchased a Nikon D90. I love this camera and I have enjoyed taking many pictures with it. But it wasn’t until earlier last year after meeting Tony, the love of my life, who was already a member of Willfield Camera Club and a keen photographer that my own photography has come on leaps and bounds. At the club I have so much fun and have learnt lots about all different aspects of photography.
There are a number of Photographers that inspire me. My two favourites are:
