Ford Green Hall Visit

And so the club ventured into the past with a visit to Ford Green Hall. Situated in the dip betwixt Smallthorne and Norton banks this splendid 17th century timber framed farmhouse also has a period garden. Alan’s claim to have laid the foundation stone may not have been the most honest statement of the night….

Dumped by the local council the hall is now run by a charitable organisation so our donations are going to a worthy cause. Apparently if we’d been there earlier in the day we’d have been at a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party but it was a different kind of madness that ensued as Willfield camera club piled in armed with a plethora of camera equipment.

It wasn’t the purported resident ghosts we were aiming to capture….although that would have been nice! Instead we nosed into rooms that were furnished as they would have been many years ago and tried to get a shot without getting another apologetic member in shot.

Located next to Ford Green Nature Reserve and with a free car park the hall is well worth a visit so thanks to Dave Chadwick for organising our night out….despite him missing it as he had to work! Richard made it though….

Volunteers opened the hall especially for us and served us with drinks and gingerbread men. Apparently there were other snacks available. All monies went to the charity so it was nice to be helping to preserve such a wonderful piece of history too. Claire, as usual, got to clean the floor with her clothes.
