To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare this special event looks at how his plays were performed at the time. Set in 1600, this group portrays a travelling theatre company composed of an array of characters from the period. Watch the rehearsals and performances on stage from well-known excerpts from current plays, including Romeo and Juliet and the battle of Agincourt from Henry V. But perhaps the most excitingly of all, when not on stage, the group invites you to visit the tiring area to meet the players and experience life with a travelling theatre. You may see them preparing for the next performance, learning lines, making and mending props and costumes (try them on), cooking, eating, gambling or quarrelling about anything and everything.
