DESCRIPTION:Or Downs Banks as it is signposted. \nThe Downs have some fabulous walks some of which are uphill which of course give the best views and fabulous views they are too. Paths are usually pretty good but sensible footwear is advised\, especially given the amount of dogs that people seem to bring and not always clean up after. \nA lovely part of the world and not too far away either. \nThere is a car park but I can’t seem to find out how much it is…..or if it will be open…. It says it will be open dawn to dusk that day so we should be fine. \nAddress: Washdale Lane\, Oulton Heath\, Near Stone\, Staffordshire \nBy road: About 5 miles from M6 junctions 14 and 15. Drive into Stone town from the A34 at the roundabout by a “Shell” garage. Bear left onto the one-way system and follow on the left side. Turn left at “Crown and Anchor” pub. Turn right at the end of the one way road. Go over level crossing by “The Talbot” pub and follow “Mount Road”. Continue as the road runs next to the canal\, Follow the road as it turns right and then for a further mile. Go over a ford and the main entrance is on your left. \nAlso signposted from the A34.

SUMMARY:Fire in the caves!
DESCRIPTION:Beech caves that is\, with fire breathers and fire jugglers….do I really need to big this up any more?? \nThe caves are protected from the elements but do please bring sturdy footwear as it can be quite muddy getting in there. If you haven’t been before the caves used to hold raves and so are covered in graffiti which adds to the photos. Don’t forget your tripods! \nAs we will be paying our fire people\, members are kindly requested to pay their usual weekly fees. \nDirections are in the link and here: \nBeech Caves were brought to my attention by Dom Bloomfield\, and as they can be found close to Newcastle-under-Lyme I decided to go in search of them to photograph them and try to find some information concerning them. \nI followed the A34 from Newcastle heading towards Stone until I came into the village of Tittensor\, you then need to look for Winghouse lane which will be on your right. Follow this lane for about half a mile until you see a small lane on your right called Beechdale road\, follow this narrow road for about three-quarters of a mile\, it will lead you over the M6 motorway bridge\, shortly after this you will start climbing a hill with a wood on it\, you will be able to see Beech caves on your left hand side from the road. Postcode is roughly ST4 8SE.
