Anglo-Saxon Staffordshire Day

May 1, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

To celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the creation of the county of Staffordshire the museum will take you back to the dark and distant past of the Anglo-Saxons. Visitors are invited to attend the court of King Penda and encounter a range of characters including an ambassador from Kent, a soldier, a princess and craft workers. A leather-worker crafts items while you wait, epic storytellers will share exciting tales of old heroes and a shaman can cast your (Saxon) fortune for you. Will there be a fight? Visitors will be invited to learn Saxon courtesies and to advise the king about whether to go to war.
